The association KlimaLink is a travel footprint database, which aims to make the climate impact of travel more transparent. It has developed a standard method for calculating CO₂e emissions in the tourism sector. Travel agencies and tour operators can use the B2B portal free of charge to calculate the climate footprint of flights and hotels. It is planned to add emissions data for additional travel components in the future (like motor vehicle, bus, train, ship, holiday accommodation). By disclosing emissions travelers can make informed decisions regarding climate-friendly travel.
In the future (expected mid 2025) it is planned that also travelers can use the platform to calculate the climate footprint of their own travels.
